Faculty-in-Residence
Part of the value of living-learning communities is the seamless blend of academic and residential life. One way we pursue this is by having a Baylor faculty member live in the community with students as a Faculty-in-Residence (FIR). These individuals serve as a link between the classroom and the living room for residents.
Dr. Beth Allison Barr, the James Vardaman Professor of History at Baylor, is the FIR for our LLC. She facilitates many programs and activities in the residence hall, and is a crucial academic link for students during their first year. Not only does she bring a presence of academic expertise right to the place where students live (and spend much of their time), but she is approachable, caring, and invests in the lives of students. Plus, her brownies are arguably the best on campus!
