LEAD Crest
Every element of the LEAD LLC crest holds significance, reflecting the community's purpose and the transformative experiences available to students who embrace its opportunities.
- Two-Toned Shield: Since 2022, LEAD's academic partner has been the School of Education. This partnership allows first-year students to take either Introduction to Education or Introduction to Leadership alongside fellow residents during their first semester to create a shared vision and language with one another. The shield's left side represents leadership, while the right symbolizes education—two essential parts of the LEAD LLC residential experience.
- Colors:
- White signifies new beginnings, marking the transition from home to the independence of university life.
- Green symbolizes the growth and flourishing in leadership that students can develop in while living in LEAD.
- The Columns: The columns depicted in the crest represent the iconic facade of Allen and Dawson Residence Halls, the physical home of LEAD LLC at Baylor University. Philosophically, the four columns stand for the foundational ways students develop in our halls: 1) academically, 2) socially, 3) spiritually, and 4) in service. Our hope for our residents is that this development extends into the university sphere (outside of our community) and into your life post-graduation.
- The Foundation: The columns rest on a solid foundation, symbolizing the LEAD community itself. This foundation symbolizes the dedication and contributions of individual residents, faculty, and staff who pour their time, energy, and passion into making the LLC what it is and what it aspires to become.
- The Roof: The roof represents belonging—a shelter that fosters inclusivity and creates a safe environment where students can flourish and reach their potential.
A special note of gratitude is due to the 2024-2025 Student Executive Team for revisiting and refining the crest's meaning. The following students contributed to this thoughtful interpretation:
