Leadership Course
All first-year students living in LEAD LLC are automatically enrolled in a 3-credit hour course titled LDS 1301: Introduction to Leadership. This shared academic experience builds community between residents in the hall while serving as a theoretical cornerstone for students' understanding and awareness of leadership theory. Building from this foundation, students are more prepared to engage practically with leadership at Baylor, whether in a student club, internship, or pursuit of their calling after graduation.
Leading others is not a right, but rather a responsibility. Even in the scriptures we can read about "where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety" (Prov 11:14). By complicating our understanding of leadership and surveying numerous theories, the 1301 course equips students with the knowledge to take up this responsibility to effect meaningful change in the world.
